Midco Sports® is excited to announce the play-by-play talent for the upcoming fall sports season.
Jay Elsen will be on play-by-play for South Dakota State University and University of South Dakota football games. Elsen joined Midco Sports in 2010 and has worked at KEYC-TV in Mankato and KELO-TV in Sioux Falls. He holds a degree in broadcasting and electronic media from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
Chad O’Shea will cover University of North Dakota soccer and volleyball games. Chad serves as Associate Director of Stewardship Communications for the UND Alumni Association. O’Shea has degrees in sports management from the University of Minnesota Crookston and communications from UND.
David Brown will be on the mic for Augustana University hockey. With over 15 years of media experience, Brown has worked as a producer, broadcaster, set host, sports reporter and news anchor for Midco Sports and KELO-TV in Sioux Falls. His work has received Upper Midwest Emmy awards, an Eric Sevareid award and regional Edward R. Murrow awards. Brown is a University of Minnesota graduate with a double major in broadcast journalism and political science.
Alex Heinert and Jody Norstedt will be on the call for University of North Dakota football games. The duo will also call Fighting Hawks hockey games with Taylor Budge joining as pre-game, intermissions and post-game host.
Heinert has served as Midco Sports’ lead announcer and on-air personality for UND Athletics while also covering the NCHC, Summit League and the Missouri Valley Football Conference in the Dakotas. Heinert is a South Dakota native and completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Sioux Falls. Heinert was named the NDAPSSA and NSMA 2023 North Dakota Sports Broadcaster of the Year.
Norstedt brings over 15 years of sports journalism experience and was named the NDAPSSA and NSMA 2020 North Dakota Sports Broadcaster of the Year. He previously served as weekend sports anchor for WDAY/WDAZ and is a graduate of St. Cloud State University.
Budge joined Midco Sports in 2022 and serves as a reporter and producer based in Grand Forks. She graduated from St. Cloud State University and has worked as a sports anchor/reporter in Rochester, MN, Sioux Falls, SD and Fargo, ND. Budge also has experience working with FOX Sports covering the Minnesota Vikings and the Big Ten Network.

The 2024-25 Midco Sports live game season kicks off Wednesday, August 21, when the University of North Dakota Women’s Soccer team hosts the University of Minnesota-Crookston at Bronson Field. Catch this streaming-only game on Midco Sports Plus®.
