Midco Sports Network earned recognition for the seventh year in a row at the 2020 Eric Sevareid Awards.
These awards highlight the work done by broadcast news operations and and journalists working in small, medium and large markets in the Upper Midwest on radio, television and online. MidcoSN received one first place award and four awards of merit. The awards were presented by the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association at the annual awards ceremony held during the Midwest Journalism Conference.
MidcoSN first submitted to the Sevareid awards in 2014, and has been honored with at least one award each of the past seven years! Check out the winning stories from the 2020 awards below!

- THE SHOT in 2009 by Ben Woodside that sends the North Dakota State University Bison to their first ever NCAA tournament.
- University of South Dakota women win their first Summit League Tournament in 2014, but they wouldn’t have got close without THE SHOT by Raeshel Contreras in the first round.
- 2017 South Dakota State men's team and unlikely hero Michael Orris who hits THE BIG SHOT in the semi-finals of the Summit League Tournament against USD.

Ahead of the 2020 FCS Championships, here's a look back on a story we did on Spencer Waege, fro South Shore, SD. Spencer was ready to move to Fargo and tackle the challenge of playing FCS college football as a DE at North Dakota State University. Support from his girlfriend Evie made the move easier, but a tragedy at home would test his family and faith.
