Every successful college team has one.
A player who makes their voice heard, encourages teammates, keeps group morale high and – on occasion – trash talks the opposition a bit.
For this year’s edition of University of North Dakota men’s basketball, that vocal leader is senior Cortez Seales.
The 6-4 swingman from Eldridge, Iowa, has always been a talker both on and off the court. While it’s true that as the Fighting Hawks’ leading scorer, he could let his play do the talking for him, but that wouldn’t be in Cortez’s nature. And it also wouldn’t be nearly as much fun.
Seales hopes to keep playing professionally after college, but he’s also looking ahead to life after basketball. A communications major at UND, Cortez is hoping to break into sports talk radio someday, and he’s got the personality and quick wit to make it happen.
In this week’s MidcoSN Podcast, Seales joins me to showcase his basketball knowledge, his skills at debate and to provide a glimpse at what his current team needs to do to reach the Summit League Tournament and beyond. Listen below, and remember to subscribe to the MidcoSN Podcast feed on Soundcloud and iTunes.
