The Sanford Power Riggs Football Combine continues to help shine a spotlight on area football players and their athletic acuity. Almost 200 football athletes from the five-state region come to Sioux Falls to get measured on the 40-yard sprint, the pro-agility test, vertical jump and the bench press. Here's a look at our story on the event.
After the combine results came in here's how some of the best of the best ranked. In the 40 yard sprint it was no surprise that receivers and backs came in at the top.
40 yard sprint
Canyon Bauer improved on his mark of 4.67 led the way with the only sub 4.6 since Taryn Christion at the first year of the high school combine.

225 Pound Bench Press
In the bench press it was 6'0", 279l pound lineman, Sam Krohnke who "set the bar". He pressed 225 pounds 24 times. Following Krohnke was sophomore, Nash Hutmacher, who has made headlines as the top heavyweight wrestler in the stae. He improved on a 14 rep performance last year as a freshman. Since the combine Hutmacher recieved a scholarship offer at the University of Nebraska.

Vertical Jump
In the vertical jump. It was Canyon Bauer again leading the way. He jumped 37" and he told me after that he hoped to do even better. Bauer has had several offers since the combine including two division offers from SDSU and USD.

Pro agility
The pro agility test shows the quickness in changing directions which is a very valuable skill. Sub 4.3 times were marked by Nate Freese a DB, Carter Slykhuis a wide out and Brady Hawkins a quarterback.
