UND Hockey Season Recap Podcast

It all came to an end in unique circumstances.

After defeating Minnesota Duluth 4-1 in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff 3rd Place Game last Saturday afternoon, the University of North Dakota hockey team learned that their season had ended on I-94 somewhere around Alexandria, Minnesota, while on the bus ride from St. Paul back to Grand Forks.

Boston University's 2-0 win over Providence took away the last possible at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament for a UND team that was squarely on the bubble at No. 14 in the PairWise, and it ended a 15-year streak of reaching the Big Dance for the nation's top college hockey program.

So why did UND's NCAA Tournament fate come down to a pair of conference tournament championships on the east coast? Where will this team's strength lie in the 2018-19 season? And who's coming in to ease the blow of losing Christian Wolanin, Cam Johnson and Austin Poganski, among others?

For the answers to those questions, look no further than award-winning beat writer Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald. Brad joined me this week for the final word on the 2017-18 UND season and a look ahead to what's coming next for the program.
