Playoffs?!?
That is not just a key component to one of the greatest coach rants in sports history. It was also a very real question for the South Dakota football program just last week.
After completing a 7-4 regular season - their best at the Division I level - with a 31-28 loss at the hands of arch-rival South Dakota State, the Coyotes were at the mercy of the FCS Playoff Committee.
Much to the relief of all of those that gathered to watch the FCS selection show on Sunday morning, that committee decided that Bob Nielson's team was, in fact, one of the top 24 in the nation and rewarded them with one of 14 at-large bids for this year's postseason.
First Round Matchup
South Dakota will travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana to take on Nicholls State in the opening round. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at John Guidry Stadium.
The Colonels finished the regular season at 8-3, which was good enough for third place in the Southland Conference.
