Track in the Dakotas revolves around three things: the weather (for example, see last weekend in southeastern SoDak), each states' respective state meet, and the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
As important as state meets are - and you can't discount the lasting significance of a state title, either as a team or individual - there's a case to be made that the title of "Howard Wood Champion" is the one everyone in the region really wants. With each competition featuring the best of the best from a four-state radius and beyond, spots on the podium aren't easy to come by, and nothing is given.
This year should prove to be no exception.
On the eve of the 92nd running of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays (May 5-6 in Sioux Falls), Jason Andera and I chat in the podcast below about the HWDR Special Events - and they should be a little extra special this year - as well as the other top events to keep an eye on.
Enjoy the pod, enjoy the meet, and catch the recap on Wednesday night at 6:30pm on MidcoSN's "Varsity Sports"!
