HS Volleyball Power Rankings 9-1-16

Each Wednesday on Varsity Sports at 6:30 pm we give you a new updated high school volleyball power rankings in North Dakota and South Dakota. There is a little change from the pre-season rankings to this week. I have a feeling there will be a lot of movement especially early this season.

NORTH DAKOTA

In North Dakota the EAST-WEST Classic gave us more of a preview of the talent accross the state than a definitive picture of the powerhouses. They played three-set matches and many coaches rotated lineups to try to find good chemistry which didn't always make for accurate results as to who was the top team. We did see Shanley beat Century, but later in the week West Fargo Sheyenne handed the Deacons an EDC loss. Many teams are in the mix for a deep playoff run. Bismarck Legacy, West Fargo, Fargo North, Valley City and Minot all figure to make a dent in the rankings at some point this season.

Rank LW Team
1 1 Bismarck Century 7 1
2 2 Fargo Shanley 6 2
3 NR WF Sheynne 5 2
4 5 Bismarck 6 2
5 4 Fargo Davies 4 3

SOUTH DAKOTA

After a week or so of action the Harrisburg Tigers look to stay focused and keep winning at number one. They got an impressive road win at Aberdeen and fought off a tough Huron team before beating Sioux Falls O'Gorman to stay unbeaten. Sioux Falls Roosevelt has had a great start and gotten good play early in the season, they've yet to be tested to a fifth set and they prepare for a tough week against Washington and Lincoln.

Rank LW Team
1 1 Harrisburg 4 0
2 5 SF Roosevelt 3 0
3 NR Huron 2 1
4 2 Brandon Valley 2 1
5 NR RC Stevens 2 0
