SOUTH DAKOTA 9-MAN

9AA

In the biggest class we still have five unbeaten teams... Canistota, Gregory, Webster Area, Baltic and MVP...in my opinion two of those have been surprises and that's Baltic and Mt. Vernon/Plankinton. Hayden Schmidt has been outstanding for MVP putting up 59 or more in three of their four wins. Baltic maybe not as dominant but since Jason Aberson took over as the head coach they won just four games in his first five seasons before breaking out to a 7 win season last year and starting unbeaten this year.

9A

Still 6 unbeaten teams (Warner, Castlewood, Potter County, Colman-Egan, Sully Buttes, Philip) in 9A so no clear favorite.
But what Warner did to Langford put the state on notice last week. Sully Buttes got an overtime win against 9AA Kimball/White Lake last Friday to stay perfect. I still think Potter County is dangerous with Tanner Storer running the ball he's got 10 TDs so far.

9B

Most believed that Langford Area was head and shoulders above the competition...But with the uncertain status of Lincoln Gibbs, who's missed three straight games with a hamstring injury, it seems like the playing field is a bit more level. As of now, who else is in the mix?

I believe Hamlin has one tough hurdle in two weeks but they could run the table. And watch out for Corsica-Stickney who has been steamrolling the last few weeks, they have an important one Friday against Irene-Wakonda and of course Harding County is sitting back with their all-state players Sam Podzimek and Jarett Jenson just waiting for the playoffs to roll around to show what they can do.
