SF Christian

The Chargers have crushed all expectations this year. Senior backs Keegan Van Egdom and Jackson Olson run with similar styles and similar results. They’ve blown past defenses with their bruising blows and burning speed. Last week they faced a tough run defense from Belle Fourche but Jackson ran for 124 yards and 2 TDs while Van Egdom gained 157 on the ground with a touchdown. Sawyer Prins hasn’t had to pass a lot but when he has he’s been accurate. Last time the Chargers played the Bulldogs they ran 81 plays and possessed the ball for 32:46 but lost a close one in overtime. Coach Jake Pettingill knows he has his hands full with the high powered Madison attack.

Madison

The Bulldogs have been dominant at times this year, usually in the second half. That was the case against Tea Area last week when they put up 41 straight points after a 20-14 lead early on. This team can turn to the air with senior quarterback Mitch Hansen (89/169 1,807 yds 20 TD) or they can turn to the ground game with Brodie Frederiksen (200 att. 1,333 yds 30 TD) who scored six touchdowns last week.

Marcus Vanden Bosch continues to do the dirty work on defense leading the team in tackles (98) and he’s chipped in 6 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. Jaxon Jahnke, Noah Guse and Mason Leighton have been ball hawks in the secondary with a combined 11 picks this year.

#7 Lennox (7-3) at #3 West Central (9-1)

Lennox

The Orioles have fought through a tough schedule but no game was tougher than their 35-34 win over #2 seed St. Thomas More last Thursday. In that game John Oldenkamp churned out 288 yards rushing as the O’s played their best game of the season. Head Coach Matt Luze commented about the big game

The Orioles will have to continue that tough play if they want to avenge an earlier loss to West Central. Tyler Leisinger has been the quarterback and Jacob Hinker has made some big plays in the passing game but the team goes as John Oldenkamp and the running game goes.

West Central

The Trojans only loss of the year came to Madison back on September 11. They stayed with the Bulldogs in the first half but weren’t able to finish them off in a 28-7 defeat. Since then the Trojans may be the most improved team in the class. In their last six games they’ve given up an average of just 9.3 points per game. On offense Jonah Rechtenbaugh and Jordan Lueth have run the ball with efficiency while Dan Skinner has been in command at quarterback. Last time the Trojans played in Lennox they controlled the pace of the game and made minimal mistakes. Look for more of the same for this focused team who plays at home on Friday.
