The Aggies waited a long time (100 years) between their most recent football championships, however they’re in prime position to win in back to back seasons. They’ve been absolutely dominant this year. Their closest matchup coming in the opener against a team from class above them (48-16 win over Grafton). Head Coach Robert Goll has this quick strike offense clicking and this Aggie team has only given up 75 points on the season.

Carrington

Carrington has almost equally impressive on their way to an unblemished record. Their offense has scored 54 points per game due in large part to Connor Wendel (42/74, 796 yds, 15 TD; 47 rush, 424 yds, 6 TD) at quarterback and a strong line up front. But the return of Walker Carr (36 rush, 475 yds 7TD) combined with Cole Ferguson (62 rush, 751 yds 12 TD) in the backfield, will put this offense on an even higher level. Coach Marty Hochholter is focused on stopping the Aggies from making quick scoring drives:

Defense we can not give up the big play. Offense we will have to be discipline  and keep the chains moving. Special teams will have to control the field position battle. Ball security and do what we do best is play together.

Velva/Sawyer

After starting the season at 4-0, the Aggies suffered a late-season lull going 2-2. Since then they’ve pulled out two playoff “upsets” beating Hazen and Bishop Ryan. The strength of the team is the senior heavy backfield with quarterback Shad Vedaa (28/74, 452 yds, 4 TD; 162 rush, 1,014 yds 21 TD) and running back  Kobe Bright (148 rush, 1,012 yds 10 TD). But the successful backfield has benefitted from a young front line including 3 freshmen, a sophomore and a junior pushing open the holes.

We did play our best game versus Bishop Ryan on Saturday. That was evidence by the execution of our offensive line. We will need a repeat performance to give ourselves a fighting chance vs Killdeer.

Velva/Sawyer Coach Larry Sandy

Killdeer

This team is looking for a return trip to the Dakota Bowl after losing a ton of talent in the backfield. However Coach Lou Dobitz has developed this year’s team into a contender. Derek Tabor has been outstanding running the ball behind one of the best blocking teams in the state. Hayes LeMieux runs the team at quarterback but rarely throws a pass. Killdeer hasn’t lost since their opener to Trinity and have been on fire ever since.
