North Dakota Class 11AAA
Fargo South at Fargo Davies – Friday November 7 at 7:00 PM
Last Meeting: Oct 18, Davies won 50-49
For Fargo South it’s been all about timing, last season they dropped three regular season games but came alive in the playoffs to win it all. This year they lost their last two regular season games but rebounded last week to beat Century 62-46 on the power of their all-world back James Johannesson who ran for 416 yards and 5 touchdowns. JJ has now run for 1,896 yards and 32 touchdowns on the season. Fellow play-maker Ty Brooks has run for 903 yards and 16 TDs and caught 24 balls for 440 yards and four scores. These two talents have led the Bruins all season and hope to give their team some revenge against Davies who beat them three weeks ago when Aidan Hartness converted a two point run to take the lead for the Eagles. Aidan Hartness has thrown for 2036 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, throwing 19 of those scores to his twin brother Tristan Hartness (59 rec, 1348 yards, 19 TDs). Their running back Ty Jochim has supplied 1202 yards and 13 touchdowns to balance out the offensive attack.
PREDICTION: South is very pumped up to get another chance at Davies, a team that they had beat until the waning moments of their previous game. I think that Davies has a chance to win again with a multi-faceted attack on offense and a little better defense. Watch out this one could come down to the end again. Davies wins 43-38.
Minot at Bismarck – Friday November 7 at 6:30 PM
Last Meeting: Oct 10, Bismarck won 50-14
Bismarck quietly keeps winning. This year a lot of the attention has been focused in the east, but the Demons keep putting up huge offensive numbers while not budging on defense. They have scored 50+ in all but 2 games this season. Jaxon Ford, Hayden Gibson and the Demons offense has been executing as well as any Demon championship team in the past. The last time they faced Minot the Demons had some huge plays from Ford in the passing game and on special teams. Minot on the other hand managed to put up a productive second half against the awesome West Fargo defense. Minot hasn’t had nearly the offensive output that Bismarck has, but they do have a good quarterback in Ben Bolinske and the second leading rusher in the WDA in Karter Gorney.
PREDICTION: Bismarck should be focused on the task at hand and will control the time of possession. If they execute they should be able to win the turnover battle and march to yet another Dakota Bowl appearance. Bismarck wins 50-21.
