Player of the Year??

There are a lot of candidates for South Dakota High School Football Player of the year. I've listed a few in no particular order. Who do you think should be the player of the year, let me know if I've forgotten anyone.

Jake Comeaux, QB - Brandon Valley (Through 7 games)

Passing: 137/203              67.0%    1,625 yds             21 TD     5 int

Rushing: 73 rush               347 yds                5 TD

Comment: Jake throws a lot of short passes and is in a pass-heavy offense but is having a great year. His team is 5-2 with one game to go in the state’s largest class

Luke Loudenburg, RB – Howard (Through 7 games)

Rushing: 116 rush             1555 yds              13.4 ypc               31 TD

Receiving: 1 rec                7 yds                     1 TD

Comment: Luke plays 9-man football and is 301 yards away from breaking the all-time rushing yardage total in state history. He has 5,699 rushing yards for his career. His team is 7-0 and should make it to the state title game.

Mikey Daniel, RB - Brookings (Through 7 games)

Rushing: 116 rush             907 yds                7.8 ypc                 13 TD

Receiving: 10 rec              118 yds                1 TD

Comment: Mikey shares the load rushing the ball but is clearly their best back in crunch time. His team is 5-2 in the state’s second largest class. They have a good chance to get to the state title game.

Isaiah Roach, QB - Sioux Falls Lincoln(8 games)

Passing: 109/162              67.3%    1,759 yds             15 TD     6 int

Rushing: 67 rush               393 yds                2 TD

Comment: Isaiah is the best player on the best team in the state. His team finished the regular season 8-0 and they won the state title last year too. This is his first year as a starter and has turned in to a very good quarterback.

Nickel Meyers, WR – Sioux Falls Lincoln (8 games)

Receiving: 55 rec              973 yds 6 TD

Comment: Meyers is a big 6-3 target and is frequently double teamed, he’s still managed to haul in a big year. Probably the state’s most talented receiver.

Alex Wilde, WR - Brandon Valley (Through 7 games)

Receiving: 48 rec              799 yds (133.2 ypg)          9 TD

Comment: Alex is a big play receiver who has a nose for the endzone. He had a 17-catch game this year against the #1 ranked team in the state.
