SD Girls AA
1. Washington
2. Mitchell
3. O’Gorman
4. Roosevelt
5. Pierre
The Washington Warriors have a lot of seasoned talent back on the court and that lands them as the favorite in the class. Mitchell returns the best player in the state, Macy Miller. O'Gorman has four starters back from a steadily improving team. I like them more than most. Roosevelt has three starters back, but Tagyn Larson will be out 4-5 weeks with a stress fracture so they probably won't be playing their best ball until later in the year. Pierre has two talented D1 prospects and should be in the conversation as well. The defending champs, Lincoln lost a lot but will improve throughout the year and could be in position to strike come playoff time. Harrisburg won the Class A title last year but must make the daunting jump to AA and could be in the mix as well.
SD Girls A
1. St. Thomas More 2. Winner 3. Elk Point-Jefferson 4. Chamberlain 5. Wagner
St. Thomas More is the clear cut number one team with four starters back from a two-loss team last year. The rest of the field is wide open so expect some movement in this class. Winner has six of their top seven scorers back including Cassidy Hanson. Elk Point-Jefferson has possibly the best player in the class Keely Bertram. Chamberlain lost some experience but returns their top scorer Kennedy Wagner.
