High School Football Rankings - North Dakota

ND Class AAA

1. Bismarck (3-0)           2. Bismarck Century (4-0)             3. Fargo South (3-1)         4. Minot (4-0)          5. West Fargo (2-2)

Game of the week in this class: Bismarck at Fargo SouthSease

James Johannesson has run for 854 yards in four games for South. Last week he got just 10 touches in the 58-0 blowout over Fargo North. If the South offensive line can keep up with Stanley Jones and Thomas Sease of the Bismarck defensive line, South has a real chance to knock off the Demons.  If it comes down to a kick Fargo South feels they have a good leg in Jacob Weiler. Tom Mix of the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead tells be Weiler has one of the best legs in kicking in the state and could decide the game on Friday.

ND Class AA

1. Bismarck St. Mary (3-0)        2. Minot Bishop Ryan (4-0)       3. Fargo Shanley (3-1)         4. Wahpeton (4-0)               5. Grafton (2-2)

Game of the week in this class: Bishop Ryan at Watford City

Both of these teams come in undefeated. Bishop Ryan has been tested once this year when they had to come from behind to beat Watford City. The Wolves of Watford City will need the firepower of Keegan Thompson out of the backfield to keep up with the Lions. The Wolves defense has been stingy at times, they held Stanley to just 46 total yards earlier this year. In the end I think Austin Eggl's steady hand at quarterback will be enough for the Minot Ryan Lions to get the road win and stay undefeated.

ND Class A

1. Hazen (4-0)          2. Larimore (4-0)           3. Killdeer (4-0)         4. Park River –F-L (3-1)       5. Carrington (4-0)

Game of the week in this class: Milnor-North Sargent at Linton-HMB

Linton

Milnor-North Sargent started out the year ranked then lost immediately to Lisbon (a class AA team) out of the gate. Since then they've been very good and now are faced with a tough battle against Linton. This region one battle will go a long way to determining who will challenge Carrington for the region title. Austin Martinson has rushed for 306 yards and 6 touchdowns so far this year for the Bulldogs and Britton Bussman has balanced that with a good air attack at quarterback (23/44 332 yds 2TDs). Linton got a nice win two weeks ago at home against a powerful Oakes team and hope to repeat that effort this Friday. Their only loss on the year was to Carrington 24-6 on 9/6. Brooks Flyberg leads this potent offense but the Linton HMB defense has been stellar so far this year.

ND Class 9-Man

1. Cavalier  (3-0)         2. TGU  (5-0)        3. Grant County-Flasher (5-0) ↓1       4. South Border  (4-0)         5. St. John (4-1)

Game of the week in this class: TGU (5-0) at Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn (4-1)

Minot Daily News

Towner-Granville-Upham slipped from one to two in my power rankings by no fault of their own. I moved Cavalier to number one just because they haven't given up a point yet this year. Impressive. But back to the TGU WNG game. TGU has put the smack down on the first four teams they've played this year and came up with a hard-nosed win in their fifth game against a tough St. John team. TGU came up with two key interceptions and held St. John to 119 yds rushing (well below their 200+yard average) to get the win 23-18. They'll need some stout defense to shut down WNG a team that made it to the finals last year and have their quarterback Hunter Braaten back (331 yds passing, 371 yds rushing). TGU has their own dual threat QB in Eli Luna (894 yds 13TDs passing 325 yds 7 TDs rushing). Luna is just a junior and has been tearing up region 3  for a long time. Kendal Green adds some firepower to an already stoked offense (369 yds 6TDs rushing and Colter Thorp (12 rec 349 yds 4TDs)  has been the top target in the passing game.
