High School Football Power Rankings- North Dakota

Class AAA

1. Bismarck (1-0)

The Demons defense got out to a great start as they shut down the Red River Riders 28-0.

2. Fargo South (1-0)

The Bruins made a statement beating Mandan in their home opener, James Johannesson ran wild for 160 yards and two touchdowns.

3. Minot (1-0)

Minot used Alex Yanosko to get out to a quick lead before Yanosko limped off the field. Minot’s strong defense held the West Fargo Packers to no points getting the 27-0 win.

4. Century (1-0)

The Patriots Dalton Feeney rested the worries of Patriot fans by turning in an electric performance at quarterback. He threw for two touchdowns and ran for one. The Patriots left Fargo Davies in the dirt winning big time 46-7.

5. Dickinson (1-0)

Valley City might not have been the toughest test in their opener, but the Midgets looked impressive nonetheless. They jumped all over the HiLiners scoring 41 points before halftime then holding on for the 48-0 win.

Class AA

1. Bismarck St. Mary (1-0)

The Saints jumped from out of my rankings to number one by using their stellar defense to hold Shanley to nine points. St. Mary used two big second quarter plays to score their 14 points and they held on to win 14-9

2. Minot Bishop Ryan (1-0)

Ryan led 20-0 when the game was called due to weather against Velva. Ryan running back Braden Kalamaha only had six carries for 35 yards but carried the Lions offense.

3. Wahpeton (1-0)

The Huskies won a rivalry game against Breckenridge 36-14 to open the season. Jack Chrisensen threw for two touchdowns.

4. Fargo Shanley (1-0)

Just like last year Shanley suffered an early season loss, but this season it came as a shock. Shanley couldn’t generate enough offense to get the road win against St. Mary 14-9

5. Kindred (1-0)

I may be in the minority but I see the Vikings as a top five team. They made short work of West Fargo Sheyenne’s JV team 51-16 but get a big week two test against #2 Bishop Ryan.
