Class AAA - Layne Johs, Bismarck (Sr.) 5-11, 215

Stats: 206 rush, 1990 yds, 32 TDs 9.7 ypc  |  7 rec 88 yds, 2TDs

Honorable Mention: Zach Reich (Fargo South) Preston Lehmann (West Fargo)  Drew Wiseman (Century) Alex Yanosko (Minot)

Layne Johs blew through defenses all season long and helped his team capture their second straight Class AAA title in an undefeated season. Johs rarely played a full game but still managed to power in an amazing 32 touchdowns. Coach Mark Gibson praised his senior back,

"Layne is very deserving of this award.....the majority of his yards and touches came while only playing in the first half of several games. He averaged almost ten yards a carry and everyone knew he was going to get the ball.  He has been a huge part of our success here at Bismarck High over the past several years."

Class AA - Chase Montplaisir, Fargo Shanley (Jr.) 6-2, 210

Stats: 109/193, 2,336 yds 25TDs

Honorable Mention: Karson Hintz (Beulah) Trevor Zacher ( Beulah)  Danny Stasch (Shanley) Christian Lunde (Grafton) Dan Arnold (Shanley)

Chase took the starting quarterback job this year and proved that he belonged. He led the Deacons all the way to a Dakota Bowl victory. Chase spread the ball to multiple receivers as  he made Shanley into the leading passing attack in the class. His favorite target Dan Arnold hauled in 44 catches for 1,093 yards this year. He found Arnold twice for touchdowns in the title game which was the difference for the victorious Deacons as they won 14-8.

Class A - Stetson Carr, Hazen (Sr.) 6-2, 187

Stats: Rushing – 138 attempts, 1476 yards, 10.9 ave, 18 TD

Passing – 71 comp, 151 att, 1184 yards, 9 TD,

Defense – 94 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 3 int, 3 fumble recoveries

Honorable Mention: Seth Ewoniuk (Heart River), P.J. Peterson (Larimore), Abe Roerich (Stanley-Powers Lake)

Stetson Carr's leadership can't be measured in statistics. But the stats do measure how he was able to pass and throw this team to the top. He gained over 1,000 yards passing and rushing this season on his way to getting his team to a Class A title. Head Coach Rick Philion can't say enough about his senior quarterback,

"What can I say about Stetson other than he is the most complete player I've ever been involved with.  One of the most physically talented and THE most intelligent football player we've had here.  Second Team All-State as a sophomore and First Team All-State QB his last two years.  As a leader, he basically took teams on his back from his sophomore season on and led teams to the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and a State Championship.  I can’t begin to speak about his toughness.  He subluxed the costal cartilage near his sternum in the Heart River game and played the Stanley and Westhope game in a lot of pain.  Kids knew what he was going through and played even harder for him."

Stetson's shining career includes over 3400 rushing yards and 3000 passing yards. He's accounted for 79 TDs and has been the Bison's leading tackler the past three years.

9-Man - Isaac Jacobs (Jr.) 5-11, 160

Stats: 188 rush, 1,728 yds |  30 TDs  | 12 rec 202 yds

Honorable Mention: Kayne Griffith (Richland)  Jacob Hagler (North Star)  Eli Luna (TGU)  Ethan Haley (New Rockford-Sheyenne)

Isaac Jacobs has been a shining star on offense but his defense may be even better.

"He is a Junior and started at linebacker since day one of his freshman year." said co-head coach Nate Nelson.

Jacobs set the Dakota Bowl ablaze with a 95 yard touchdown and a 76 yard kick return for a touchdown before getting hurt in the game. Jacobs helped his team to an undefeated regular season. He left the championship game injured with his team ahead. But Divide County couldn't hang on and the Maroons took the runner-up spot.
