The most electric event in the state is getting ready to take flight in Aberdeen Thursday.

Game One

White River vs. Castlewood – Wyatt Krogman will be on display as one of the best guards in the state. Krogman is not a pure shooter but he’s a pure scorer and distributor. Nic Waln also helps produce the points. The only senior on the team, Cody Young (6-5) will have to step up in the paint. Castlewood has now won six in a row and has riden scorer Jordan Feyerisen and his 21.0ppg average. Castlewood has firepower with Lucas Ching 12.8ppg and Carver Ching 7.1 rpg.

Game Two

Dupree vs. Sully Buttes – Dupree lost two regular season games to Faith but came through in the region finals with a win over them. This is not a tall team and their youth may catch up to them. Sully Buttes would like to charge into the finals the same way that the girls basketball team did. Sully Buttes is not a deep team but Jorden and Jalen Lamb will carry the load for the Chargers.

Game Three

Langford vs. Hanson – Langford’s year is this year. Kyle Johnson and Nick ALberts lead a senior rich squad with junior Michael Erickson in the mix. They’ve won 13 in a row since mid-season back to back losses to Leola-Frederick and Faith. Hanson hasn’t been to the state tournament since 1989 but a mid-season turnaround has made the Beavers a serious contender. Jacob Bartscher is a weapon on defense and Hanson Jordan Marquardt can supply the offense.

Game Four

Viborg-Hurley vs. Wolsey-Wessington  -  Viborg Hurley’s last loss was to White River, their first game without Zach Kraning in the middle. They have since knocked off Canistota, Roncalli and Castlewood. Dennis DeNeui, Andrew Hora and Trevor Jacobson have regrouped the team and put together a charge into the playoffs. Wolsey Wessington have three-point attack with Jalen Boomsma, Hayden Hooks and Lorenzo Williams. This is a very good rebounding team that could give Viborg problems.
