Cody Schilling Just Scored Again

Augustana plays Minnesota-Crookston on Midco Sports Network on Saturday... women at 4:00, men at 5:57 or so unless the women go to OT which is a good possiblity.  Crookston's women are good... they lead the NSIC in scoring at 73+ PPG and are led by Brittani Wiese who leads the NSIC in scoring at just over 20 PPG.  The Lady Eagles are 2-1 in the conference but should be 3-0... they led Duluth by 4 with 15 second left in overtime and let it get away.  Wiese and Carly Rothstein and Lauren Kessler all played together in high school at St. Michael-Albertville and were all on the All-Tournament team in 2009 when they beat Minneapolis North in the 3A state championship game.  Minnesota is a hot spot right now for girls basketball... a lot of players going on to college programs. (Brittany Chambers of Kansas State is from Jordan, MN... she had 18 against SDSU last week.)

On the male side... the Augie men are making the pre-season predictors look good so far.  Augie is 4-0 in the conference.  Cody Schilling threw in 44 the last time the Vikings played Crookston.  Speaking of good players from Minnesota, Schilling is the all-time leading scorer in the Land O Lakes, but did you know he is also the career leader in assists? I did not.  But it's true.  Also a fact... Augustana junior Leif Nomeland is #2 in career rebounds in Minnesota high school history. (Schilling is 6th.  Cole Aldrich, who played at Kansas and is now in the NBA with Oklahoma City, is 12th.)  And keeping with the Minnesota theme... Akeem Cubie is back for Crookston.  He is from Minneapolis and has been out the last two years re-habbing a torn ACL.  He is scoring 17 a game right now and had 27 against Moorhead last weekend.  Should be fun to watch him and Schilling go at it.

Hope you tune in Saturday afternoon.  (It's either us or the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.)
