In boys basketball in South Dakota it's been all about tradition. O'Gorman, St. Thomas More, Mitchell, White River and on and on. Some of the most powerful programs in the state are all back and ready for another title run. In class AA O'Gorman has won four of the last six titles with a great sense of team play under the leadership of head coach Derek Robey. This season O'Gorman will not be the favorites, they'll have to compete against the heavy-hitting Mitchell Kernels who lose their top scorer but bring back virtually all the other parts from their runner-up team last year. Head Coach Gary Munsen has a chance to go out on top with this talented team featuring 18 point scorer Tucker Volesky and company.

In Class A the top two teams stand out above the rest. St. Thomas More suffered just two losses on their way to a championship last year and bring back Skye Warwick. Dell Rapids has a strong cast including double-double machine Cole Langer. Miller, Roncalli and Lennox headline a large group of contenders for state dominance.
- St. Thomas More
- Dell Rapids

- Aberdeen Roncalli

In Class B it looks like White River and Viborg/Hurley will be sitting atop the rankings all year. I've got White River pegged as the top team with Wyatt Krogman leading the way but Viborg/Hurley features a great post player in Zach Kraning and could be tough to beat.

- Canistota
- Castlewood
