Every Wednesday I'll update my power rankings.
This is the first edition of the 2011-12 power rankings and you better get used to seeing Mandan and Bismarck at the top of the list. Mandan had an inconsistent year last year and Head Coach Jason Horner tells me it was because of inconsistent practices. This year Horner says the practices have been better and I expect the results to be better as well. A lot of experts believe that Bismarck is the team to beat with the best scorer and rebounder in the the state, Dexter Werner. I think they'll be very good but it will take a lot to beat the well balanced and deep Mandan rotation.
- Mandan
- Bismarck
- Red River
- Davies
- Fargo Shanley
This class is already underway. Class B has a lot of potent teams at the top, none with more potential than North Star. They lost Grant Lindahl and his 21ppg from the championship team last year but return juniors Jacob Hagler and Daniel Grande who combined for 31 points per game as sophomores last year. Beulah has sprinted out to a 3-0 start winning the McClean County tournament against New England already this year. They are pegged by the sports writers as the top team in class B. Berthold, LaMoure and Hatton-Northwood all have a chance.
- North Star (3-0)
- Beulah(3-0)
- Berthold (2-0)
- LaMoure (4-0)
- Grafton (2-0)
