Midco Sports Network Expands Regional Sports Coverage

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – With four times more live coverage, Midco Sports Network (MidcoSN) is kicking off the fall season with 25 live broadcasts of high school and college football games. MidcoSN is also elevating its game with three locally produced sports shows and more ways for viewers to interact with their favorite team through enhanced website features and a new mobile website.

"We will be producing more live broadcasts than ever before, so if you're looking for your hometown team, you'll find them on Midco Sports Network this fall and throughout the year," says Barry Buetel, general manager of MidcoSN. "The Midco Sports Network team is excited to present these live football broadcasts to the fans in our region."

Extensive Football Coverage

Seventeen key college matchups will air live, including Eastern Washington University at University of South Dakota, Augustana College at University of Mary, Augustana College at Northern State University, North Dakota State University at South Dakota State University, Minot State University at University of Sioux Falls and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at Black Hills State University.

In addition, eight high school matchups will be broadcast live. Featured teams include Sioux Falls Lincoln, Washington, O'Gorman and Roosevelt High Schools. Aberdeen Central, Aberdeen Roncalli, Brandon Valley, Tea Area, Sisseton, Vermillion, Fargo Davies, Minot, Bismarck and Bismarck Century High School games will also be aired. Regional Sports Shows

MidcoSN will produce three new shows to share the latest regional sports news with viewers:

  • "Countdown to Kickoff" will feature in-depth interviews with the coaches of teams on MidcoSN's live broadcast schedule. The 60-minute show will preview the upcoming football season. The show will debut on Thursday, August 4 and will be rebroadcast throughout August.
  • Each week MidcoSN viewers can tune into "Varsity Sports Now" for a 30-minute recap of the previous week's high school sports matchups. Coach and player profiles, rankings and previews of upcoming games will show fans how their team stacks up against the competition.
  • Viewers can watch in-depth features on athletes, coaches and MidcoSN communities on "Midco Sports Magazine" every three months.

Online Upgrades

Additions and enhancements to MidcoSportsNet.com make it easier for viewers to find the broadcast schedule for their favorite high school or college team.

A team of MidcoSN sports analysts will also be contributing articles to a new blog section of the site. Bloggers include general manager Barry Buetel, game announcers Tom Nieman, Jay Elsen, Joe Beltrame and Jason Andera, along with producers Nate Burdine and Dan Aspan.

The introduction of the FanZone on the site also allows viewers to sign up for contests and giveaways and easily submit their fan photos. Viewers can sign up to win a prize in the FanZone each month.

With the new mobile site, m.MidcoSportsNet.com, fans now have the schedules, videos and photos of their favorite regional teams at their fingertips. Smartphone users can access information on the go and submit their fan photos from the stands.
