I'm not sure about you, but the wait for football is driving me nuts.
I know what you're thinking...what about the NFL preseason? I suppose that counts for something, but the diet of second-stringers and future Arena Football League talent is already getting stale. I'm talking real, regular season football. And for the first time I can remember, I'm not thinking of the NFL when I say that.
We here at MidcoSN have been talking football for a long time. The conversations got a little more serious once we wrapped up our postseason hoops coverage in March. Sure, there were some other subjects/events sprinkled in over the summer, but football has been our top priority. Just when the phrase "ramping up" started to lose its last shred of meaning, the ideas we had been discussing started to take shape.
The first big splash came with the addition of Jason Andera, arguably the most respected high school football expert in South Dakota. I have admired Andera's work for years, so I knew what he was going to bring to the table. The possibilities will be endless.
Once Andera was on board, the wheels really started to turn. The acquistion of a second production trailer, which had taken several months and nearly caused a few panic attacks, was finalized in June. I still remember the first time I laid eyes on "Southern Cross." Life got a little bit cooler.Check it out for yourself. With two production trailers, we will be able to be in two places at once. That means more football, and that's always a good thing.
The icing on the cake for me was the much-anticipated release of our fall schedule. In case you haven't heard, we will be presenting 25 college and high school games. That's a big number for any network, let alone one that just celebrated its first birthday. And I get to be a part of it! If I wake up now, I'm going to be very upset.
